Science for Littles
Updated: Aug 26
This class follows a Charlotte Mason-style approach, inviting children into a living, hands-on experience of science through exploration, observation, and rich, engaging books. Each lesson is designed to spark curiosity, nurture wonder, and help children delight in the incredible world God has created.
Our Amazing Universe
This year, Science for Littles will take us on an exciting year-long journey through astronomy as we explore Our Amazing Universe!
Rather than rushing through the wonders of space, we will spend the year slowing down and exploring them one fascinating topic at a time. We’ll discover our place in the universe, explore our solar system, take a closer look at the Sun and Moon, journey through all eight planets, learn about stars and constellations, and discover what it takes to explore space.
Through living books, hands-on activities and experiments, art, observation, science journaling, and occasional videos, students will have opportunities to experience science in ways that are memorable, meaningful, and fun.
Throughout the year, each child will also create their own My Book of God’s Amazing Universe science journal. Week by week, they will fill its pages with drawings, observations, activities, and discoveries from our studies. By the end of the year, their journal will become a special keepsake documenting their journey through God’s amazing universe.
What to Expect
• Hands-on experiments, activities, and demonstrations• Living book read-alouds and narration• Astronomy observation and exploration• Science journaling and drawing• Occasional science videos• Gentle, age-appropriate introduction to astronomy and scientific concepts• A faith-based perspective that continually points children toward the beauty, order, and incredible design of God’s creation.
Science for Littles is designed to cultivate curiosity and encourage children to wonder, observe, ask questions, and discover. My hope is that they leave class not only knowing more about our universe, but looking up at the night sky with an even greater sense of awe for the God who created it all.
